Reselling Resold Resale Rights.....Is it all Right?

The longer you spend on the internet, the more likely it is that you will come across something called ‘Resale-Rights', 'Reprint-Rights',‘Master-Resale-Rights' or 'Distribution-Rights'.
This is when the owner of the product, be it an e-book,e- course, script or software, gives you permission to sell the product and make 100% profit on it.

‘Master-Resale-Rights' - is when you have the right to pass on the 'resale-rights' to other people, include it in a package, membership-site, or give it away.
Simply put, you are selling the 'right' to sell 'the rights'. Right?

There is a large market for such products, but it can also cause a few problems. Let us say , you sell the rights to 10 people, who each then sell them to 10 more people; and so on - pretty soon, these products become cheaper, the last ones to purchase them now have difficulty SELLING the product themselves, as the competition increases.
Now, the product gets lumped together with a load of other, devalued bonuses, to sell something entirely different. If your original product really is any good, it will soon be devalued, itself, as many people look at bonuses or freebies as worthless.
While some try to sell it, others are simply giving it away for free - just for visiting a website.

Creator(s) begin with their original product, sell it for quite some time, make a tidy profit, see that the sales are slipping, and create a brand new product, to start the ball rolling again.
So, as a last gasp with the previous product, they now sell the 'rights' to it. By selling those 'rights' - the creator now has an army of people pushing a tired product, probably having been already copied by unscrupulous types, none the less still making money, but without actually having to SELL it.
That's the 'Resale Rights' buyers job.

‘Private Label' or fully 'rebrandable-rights' to products, are also now gaining popularity.
Often given the ‘source-code' files, to change as you see fit. You are given a completed product, finish it off with a few refinements here and there, you rename it, add some different graphics -and BINGO! here's your very OWN product. It's even got YOUR NAME on it!
"Created by Joe Blogs. Copyright 2007".
The ‘source code' is what makes the product work - usually everything you need to develop your own version.
What a Fantastic Idea!
Er...sorta.
Even with a top quality product, you may have paid anything between $200 & $500, for the ‘Source Code Master Resale Rights', you can bet your life that someone, indeed a number of someones, are going to devalue this product by selling it for some ridiculously low price, aiming for bulk sales rather than quality customers.
Imagine it, you see these 'source code' items you have been coveting for so long but could not afford - going for a song.
Are you going to avail youself of this "never-to-be-repeated" offer?
Not just you, either. Now that it is so cheap and anyone can afford it, 90% of these will leave it untouched on their computers - ultimately to be used as a giveaway. Most won't really know, or remember, what was paid for it - or what it actually does, if they even did to begin with.

Rather than taking the product, creating something with it, selling it, and then trying to use the Master Resale Source Code Rights as an ‘upsell' - they are simply selling the entire package, untouched, for ridiculous prices. This really does belittle and devalue the main package. And of course, will annoy the hell out of all those who paid full price for the package in order to set up some good products of their own.
Not only does this devalue the product monetarily, it gives the impression that the product is 'cheap' by it's very nature, therefore, in most cases, doomed to the bowels of the hard-drive.
Such a waste.
Let us not even go into how it feels when you discover, that the product you could only afford by selling one of you children - now costs less than a hamburger.
Should you find yourself with such a product, where the competition is just ludicrous - do not sell it for even less!
Add something to it to make it more attractive to prospective buyers.
Or, if you have the talent - improve upon the product!

Until next time,
